Our financial goal was nearly achieved, and Fern did go for the Ketamine coma treatment in Mexico the fall of 2009.
However, as those of you who have followed Ferns story will know, as a result of the inability to receive regular treatment locally, there has been progression and a worsening of Ferns condition. For that reason we have continued in our fundraising efforts, to assist the familiy with ongoing costs of treatment, and equipment to help Fern with the challenges of daily life.
As a part of our fundraising, and public education efforts, her sister, Faith Wood, has written a book titled “Fundraising on a Shoestring”. The ebook is now available for purchase online HERE.
$3 from every print copy, and $1 from every ebook sold will be donated to this cause, until such time as Fern finds support is no longer needed. Donations will be made to other charities should that be the case.
If you would like to order a print copy, please contact Faith at faith@imind.ca
Yes, it was an awe inspiring task, but every $35 we received from people like you made it possible to send Fern for treatment.
Thank you for helping us make this happen.
The donations and support that you have provided enabled Fern to undergo the coma, and we thank you for that.
Since then the donations you have given have been used to repay the funds that were borrowed to pay for the coma, as well as to help cover some of the cost of Fern's booster treatments in Mexico, which were not available in Canada.
After the coma, it has been necessary for Fern to be seen by CRPS specialists in Tampa, FL and Philadelphia, PA. None of the costs associated with these visits has been covered by our insurance, so that makes us especially grateful for your generosity.
Every dollar you donate helps.
You should know that 100% of the money donated has gone directly toward medical and other expenses involved in Fern's treatment. Read more...
All the skills and services used to develop this website and promote Fern's story have been donated free of charge by people who care.
